Tom’s most well now, and got his bullet around his neck on a
watch-guard for a watch, and is always seeing what time it is, and
so there ain’t nothing more to write about, and I am rotten glad of
it, because if I’d a knowed what a trouble it was to make a book I
wouldn’t a tackled it, and ain’t a-going to no more. But I reckon I
got to light out for the Territory ahead of the rest, because Aunt
Sally she’s going to adopt me and sivilize me, and I can’t stand it. I
been there before.

      Moon River
Moon river, wider than a mile
I'm crossin' you in style some day
Old dream maker, you heartbreaker
Wherever you're goin', I'm goin' your way

Two drifters, off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after the same rainbow's end, waitin' 'round the bend
My huckleberry friend, Moon River, and me

Two drifters, off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after the same rainbow's end, waitin' 'round the bend
My huckleberry friend, Moon River, and me

  •  Four Quartets    T.S. Eliot
Time present and time past
Are both perhaps present in time future,
And time future contained in time past.
If all time is eternally present
All time is unredeemable.
What might have been is an abstraction
Remaining a perpetual possibility
Only in a world of speculation.
What might have been and what has been
Point to one end, which is always present.
Footfalls echo in the memory
Down the passage which we did not take
Towards the door we never opened
Into the rose-garden. My words echo
Thus, in your mind.
                              But to what purpose
Disturbing the dust on a bowl of rose-leaves
I do not know.

unredeemable : not able to be recovered.

  • The West Land

April is the cruellest month, breeding

Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing

         Dull roots with spring rain.
